Cities are complex places, and the decisions we make in one department often have a ripple effect in other areas. Many decisions come down to trade-offs or compromises between conflicting priorities.
That’s why it’s important to share not just the decisions, but the factors and the reasoning that go into those decisions, in a plain and transparent way, so everyone is working from the same information. That’s how we can make better decisions together as a community.
To do that, my office has developed these helpful “Citizen Explainers” to break down some of the more complex issues the City is facing. We’ll be adding more over time.
