Here’s a look at what the City is doing to support Winnipeggers at this time:
- During this period of extreme heat, most spray pads will open one hour early and stay open one hour later. This temporary measure will take effect at most locations as of this evening (July 13).
- Most spray pads will operate 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Boyd Park and Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre, will continue to operate 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.)
- Residents can cool off or get some water at any civic facility, library, or leisure centre during regular operating hours. Some community centres are also set up as cooling centres. Hydration stations are set up at various locations.
- Water bottles have been delivered to cooling centres and security at 510 Main to distribute.
