Transit Safety Project resuming this spring

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Transit Safety Project will be resuming this spring. The project ran from September to December of 2025 and will be returning this weekend.

“Beginning this weekend, WPS will once again deploy an increased police presence across Winnipeg Transit routes and facilities. You can expect to see officers riding on buses and patrolling near transit stops, including bus shelters and stations. Similar to the fall, the operation will include both uniform and plainclothes officers and aims to prevent, detect and suppress violent crime and disorder that impacts the safety and wellbeing of our community.

Members of the newly formed Rapid Response Unit will be among uniformed officers attending transit routes, stops, and hubs.”
